So sorry to everyone - I guess I am not as good at blogging as I thought I might be. The last post was a picture of "LBR"'s nursery and since then, so much has happened...
The quick run down:May 9 - that was Mother's Day. The Thursday before I had been informed to take it easy as my BP was creeping up some...so it became my last day at work. My parents came into town on Saturday and for the first time in a long time, I spent Mother's Day with my own mom. Monday and Tuesday of that next week were spent relaxing - Mom took me to get a pedicure (had to look good for the doctors!). It was exam week at K-State so Kevin was busy finishing a semester and I was just counting down until Wednesday...still hoping that "LBR" as she was known would come on her own.Wed. May 12 - Kevin and I headed to the hospital about 6:45 AM to arrive at 7. By 8 AM, I had already started pitocin and was ready to get the ball rolling! My doctor arrived by about 9 and broke my water...I was ready now...but "LBR" was not quite ready. I had been at about 1-2 cm for about a week and was slowly progressing. At around lunch time I made it to almost 4 cm. Contractions were starting to get more intense so about 2 I decided it was time for the epidural to possibly help me relax and speed up the process. It was around this time that the doctors said I should progress about a cm an hour so we would have this baby later this afternoon. Through the afternoon I progressed to 5 cm and when checked at about 4 and then again at 7 PM, there was no change. There were a few times I was put on oxygen since the baby's heart rate increased. Contractions were good and strong, but my body was not cooperating. The doctor then said that she thought it would be best to go ahead and do a c-section...believe me, it was not what I wanted to hear, but we thought we would listen to the doctor and do what was best rather than just waiting several more hours with the chance that we would still end up doing the c-section. So just over 12 hours after we arrived at the hospital - Morgan Anne came into the world at 8 PM, weighing 8 lbs and 21 inches long.

We were excited to welcome her and were happy that Mimi and Papa (Camilla's parents) were also able to be at the hospital. Kevin was able to bring them to the nursery to be able to see Morgan when she was just a few minutes old. She got a clean bill of health!

We were able to come home from the hospital on the next Saturday (May 15th). It was K-State graduation day, so out of our hospital window we watched the college graduates and their friends and family.

Since that day - our lives have definitely not been the same...Morgan has been great. Yes, we have had our ups and downs with acid reflux, colic, and some other gas problems, but once we figured all that out, we were perfectly fine!
Over the summer we had several trips and experiences...
A week after Morgan was born, Kevin's family (Mom, sister and nephew) made the trip down to see us.
We made a trip to Stillwater, OK for a funeral of a close friend and got back just in time to drive to Iowa for our nephew's baptism (we were his godparents). We at least got a good picture of all the grandkids...

Just when we got back from Iowa, Kevin headed to Egypt for 10 days. Thankfully my mom and dad returned to KS (I think they wanted an excuse to see Morgan). We had a good week together - and it was nice for Mom to cook each night!!
During the month of July I had to teach an online class, but it was still a relatively calm month. We began taking Morgan to her daycare for a few hours here and there to get her used to (and get me used to it) and the month ended with everyone (both families) coming together for Morgan's baptism.

Everything that weekend went well - we had low country boil on the Saturday night before and then had a nice luncheon following the baptism on Sunday (August 1). Some family left on Sunday, some Monday, and my parents left on Wednesday.
Just a week or so later, we headed to the Iowa State Fair...a Roberts' tradition. We did our best to keep Morgan cool, but she seemed to be ok and did well even with long days.

So that brings us back to the present...We got back from the fair on Saturday, and I started work on Monday (yesterday). Even though I had taken Morgan to her daycare several times - those few hours did not and could not prepare me for dropping her off on Monday morning knowing I was returning to work and I would not see her all day. But, she did not seem to mind at all. She took several naps through the day - ate and played - so definitely harder on the mom than the daughter!!
Day 2 was not as hard to drop her off, so I assume it will get easier with time. Hopefully through that time I will update more frequently!
